About me

Hi, I’m Zachariah Read, a young creative, passionate about writing and filmmaking.

I have recently become an alumni at the University of the Arts London where I studied for three amazing years at the London College of Communication and came out with a BA(Hons) degree in film practice.

As of late, I am doing my best to smash my way into the film industry by making and maintaining connections as well as keeping my eyes peeled for my first projects as an official alumni!

I am seeking roles as a camera trainee. I became hooked when I underwent this position for my grad film.

My ultimate goal is to become a writer/director. My background is, having just recently graduated, in student films. In my grad film, I served as cinematographer however, in the past I have done lighting, sound recording and sound design as well as just helping on set where I can.

Long-term, I aim to revive mid-budget comedies and get them back into the mainstream, as I grew up on classics such as Superbad (2007), Bridesmaids (2011) and Shaun of the Dead (2004). I love comedy!

As well as this, I hope to finish my sci-fi/fantasy book 'Hybrid World' (working title) and turn it into a feature film. For a little preview it has, a rapture, zombies, werewolves, vampires and some cannibalism here and there, all wrapped up in a delightful dystopian totalitarian society!

Other writing projects just waiting to be revisited and transformed into silver screen stories are: Pen Is; a comedy about the world’s most anal (no pun intended) uni student who breaks down upon losing her pen, Rude Robot; another comedy in which two highschoolers download social media into their very own robot in order to win a science contest which leads to one very un-PC PC!; and one more is a fantasy drama short about the ghost of a teenager who is cursed to become the god of life and death who must hunt down the grim reaper in the shadow plain to rid him of his curse. These are a few of my ideas.

In summary, I am currently very interested in working within the camera department in any area I can claw my way into but I’d also appreciate any role which gets me on a set as I am very keen to prove my metal and climb the razor ladder of the film industry!
